Being an entrepreneur is not an easy task

To be an entrepreneur requires a lot of resolve, patience, perseverance, passion and, above all, it’s important to have the right partners and to have a solid network.

For as long as I can remember I’ve always wanted to be “independent”, not only from a technical point of view, but also as a decision related to my professional education. Nevertheless, I believe that being an entrepreneur does not only mean to be independent. It also means to embrace the big challenge of knowing oneself professionally and to continue growing accordingly, as well as being able to offer support and company to one’s team in their own growth and development. Everyone should feel together and synchronized; similar to the spirit of the African proverb which I have written in my whatsapp status: “If you want to advance quickly travel alone, if you want to go far travel accompanied”..

What’s important when it comes to undertaking new challenges is to find the best company so that the journey is as fun and adventurous as possible. It’s essential to surround yourself with professionals who have a similar or different profile, who carry out similar different activities like yourself. The back and forth communication can enrich you, apart from helping you generate valuable sinergies.

Because of all the reasons I mentioned above, I believe that the term independent does not apply; neither when doing business nor for payroll jobs. Although a businessman is able to identify a business opportunity, he takes on the challenge of working for something he is passionate about, and faces and solves difficult situations . This way he or she is able to manage time freely and achieve financial stability that allows him or her to continue embarking on new projects.

In this respect, we could define independence as the “freedom” to not depend on others to execute a project and to feel fulfilled. However, to some extent, the businessman and the project depend on the contributions and added values that the team members provide..

In order to illustrate it better I want to bring back the example of traveling. If you travel alone —I’ve done it several times and I think it’s great—, there will be moments when you’ll need a little encouragement, some advice, or you’ll need to stop to find the way to choose alternative paths, and you’ll have to solve everything by yourself. You could also want to explore new places and you’d have to take the risk of traveling during the night, even at times when you haven’t slept well; this could be risky or turn into an impediment from enjoying the adventure. This is why I am convinced that good company means much more than getting far. What matters during this big, beautiful and unique journey that is life, is to reach the sky.
